Illustrated on the reverse is King Zeus as he bears a thunderbolt, with the sacred golden eagle, known as Aetos Dios, above his shoulder. The reverse is rich in symbology, as the mythological King surveys his domain, among the clouds with complete control and order over the natural world, his domain. The contrast of the proof and frost finish enhances the coin’s beauty.

The obverse depicts the contemporary effigy of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, in vivid detail. The design of the famed artist, Ian Rank-Broadley is contrasted by the frosted finish of the coin’s field and encapsulated by the Queen’s title, with the weight, purity, and year of issue of the coin.
