  • Consisting of 1 kilogram of 9999 Fine Gold
  • Obverse: Features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
  • Reverse: Features an eagle, a mythical and revered animal in several different cultures

The 2010 Olympic games held in Vancouver, Canada, were the third time Canada had had the honor bestowed upon it. The immensely successful games saw Sidney Crosby's golden goal to secure the gold medal in men's hockey, with the women's national team also winning, Alex Bilodeau securing gold in only the second day of events in men's Freestyle Skiing. Finally, the event successfully unified the national, instilling a deep sense of pride within each citizen, as Canada led all countries in the gold medal tally with 14 gold medals. This 1-kilogram gold coin commemorates our finest performance on the world Olympic stage in stunning fashion, with a 9999 pure gold content and intricate design! This coin is a collector's item, with only a total of 20 coins minted, and is only the fifth coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint in a one-kilogram denomination.

The reverse side pays homage to Canada's indigenous roots by featuring an eagle, a mythical and revered animal in several different cultures. Eagles are considered sacred in mythical terms, with their feathers known to transmit luck, courage, and wisdom to those worthy of obtaining them. This beautiful coin is fashioned in a high relief style, with a proof finish applied throughout, and a blank coin field.

The obverse contains the modern effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, with the depiction minimized to feature the official Olympic emblem within the field of the coin. The images are encapsulated by the denominational value, year of issue, and her Majesties name.
