A mercury dime is a traditional dime that was minted by the US from 1916 -1945. The dime got it's name due to the Phrygia cap that Lady Liberty is depicted wearing which originally was meant to represent freedom, however many at the time said it gave Lady Liberty the likeness of the Roman god Mercury. This was met with much controversy at the time and thus it received the name "mercury dime" which is still used to describe it today. The year of the dime you receive may vary, however the coin you receive will be a 90% pure silver Mercury dime.
